MY STORY
From an early age, I’ve been a maker with a deep curiosity about how systems work. What began as building an HO-gauge (1:87 scale) model train village—with remotely wired control switches—naturally evolved into constructing full-scale homes. That early fascination grew into a lifelong passion for buildings and building science. Combined with a genuine desire to help people, it has led me to found Spotlight—a company dedicated to educating homeowners and empowering them to make informed, confident decisions about their properties.
I am committed to serving homeowners and property developers through detailed, comprehensive inspections, thoughtful consulting, and innovative design solutions. I take pride in my work and approach every project with a focus on safety, quality, and long-term performance of residential buildings.

Spotlight is dedicated to providing expert residential home inspection, construction consulting, and design services.
Based in the Bay Area, Sarah deVito is a licensed Class-B General Contractor and an ASHI (American Society of Home Inspectors) Certified Inspector (ACI), with a degree in architecture from UC Berkeley. Sarah has and continues to oversee light commercial, residential and design/build projects. In 2015, Sarah added home inspection to her list of skills, which wonderfully combines her love of building design and building science with a commitment to helping others. Her appreciation for, and experience with both historic and modern design gives her a unique perspective which she applies to building inspections, while her work as an inspector informs her insight into design and construction practices. She has worked in the Bay Area, Santa Fe, NM, and San Antonio, TX.
Sarah is known for her approachable, patient, and solutions-oriented style. Whether she’s summarizing key findings on-site or answering follow-up questions days later, she ensures every client feels supported and empowered. She stays current on building codes and industry best practices through ongoing education.
